How To Burn Your Candle

  • Trim your wick when necessary. As your candle burns lower, use a wick trimmer to cut your wick to a safe length to prevent sooting and keep your candle burning at its best. We recommend trimming to around 5mm.

  • Say no to tunnelling! Tunnelling is when your candle burns down the centre only meaning the wax around the edges goes to waste. An easy way to prevent this is by ensuring your candle burns to the edges the first time you use it.

  • Leave a little at the end. You should never let your candle burn right until the bottom as this can cause wax leakage or even glass breakage – eek! We advise leaving at least 6mm of wax at the bottom of every candle.

Candle Safety

  • Give your candles space. While a group of candles makes a lovely decorative display it’s important to keep candles apart when they’re burning. This will stop them from overheating. You should keep your candles away from other sources of heat in your home too, such as radiators.

  • Keep your candles away from drafts and air vents to reduce the chance of the flame catching and lighting anything nearby. Breezes can also cause candles to produce a lot of soot which can leave a black residue on walls and ceilings.

  • Keep an eye on your candles, they should never be left unattended and should always be kept away from children, pets and flammable materials.

  • Your candles should always be upright and placed on a stable, even and heatproof surface. Add extra protection to tables, shelves and windowsills to ensure your candles don’t damage them.

  • Try using a candle snuffer to extinguish the candle to help prevent smoking and wax escape.

Reed Diffuser Tips

  • Get a boost of fragrance by occasionally flipping the reeds. Flipping the reeds will increase the fragrance intensity but will also cause quicker evaporation of the product so you may find you need a refill sooner if you are flipping too frequently.

  • The more reeds you use, the more intense the fragrance will be. Fragrance oil is distributed by travelling up the reeds and evaporating. If you find the fragrance too intense try using fewer reeds, this will likely mean your diffuser lasts a little longer too. If you love a strong fragrance, use all of the reeds provided and flip them regularly.

  • Diffuser liquid is designed to evaporate quickly in order to diffuse the fragrance throughout the room. This means that the liquid can be harsh on surfaces such as paint, varnishes and plastic, which is the case for most diffusers on the market. Take extra care when opening or moving your diffuser and rotating the reeds to protect your surfaces, and place them on a protective surface such as a coaster or tray.

  • Safety first! Keep your diffuser out of reach of children and pets. Diffuser liquid can be flammable so don’t place your diffuser too close to candles or open flames.
