What are period pants?

Period pants are reusable underwear designed to provide reliable protection during periods. They have a built-in absorbent layer that can hold fluid for both light, medium and heavy periods, allowing you to move with confidence.

What are the benefits of period pants?

  • Cost-effective: While period pants may cost more initially than disposable products, they can save you money in the long run.

  • Comfortable: Many people find period pants more comfortable than traditional period products.

  • Convenient: With period pants, you don't have to worry about running out of pads or tampons; you just need enough pairs to get you through your cycle.

How long can you wear period pants for?

Period pants are designed to provide long-lasting protection and comfort. The length of time they can be worn will depend on your flow and activity at the time.

How do period pants work?

  • Period pants work by utilising a multi-layered gusset to absorb menstrual fluid.

  • Our period underwear is designed with three layers for superior protection. The gusset is wider and longer than in regular underwear, ensuring better coverage. The first layer aims to wick away moisture, drawing it into the second layer where it’s absorbed. The final layer contains a thin, breathable, and waterproof gel to keep you feeling dry.

  • To add freshness, our period underwear is treated with an anti-microbial finish to help prevent bacteria and odours.

Do you wear period pants on their own?

You can wear period pants on their own or with disposable sanitary products for added protection.

What period underwear do we offer?

Be sure to read the product tag and description in-store to find the best option for you.

Heavy flow period pants: Designed with extra length in the gusset, with a larger absorption area to keep you feeling dry and confident. They are tested to hold up to four tampons of menstrual fluid.

Medium flow period pants: Offering a shorter gusset length for absorbency, making them perfect for all-day wear. These are tested to hold up to three tampons of menstrual fluid.

Light flow period pants: Best for light flow days. These are tested to hold up to two tampons of menstrual fluid.

How to care for period knickers

Wash and re-use your period pants in three simple steps. Always follow the care instructions on the label.

Note: We recommend washing before using to activate the absorption layer of the gusset.

Step 1: Rinse your period pants under cold water until the colour runs clear.

Step 2: Wash by hand or in the washing machine. Avoid using fabric softener as this can reduce the performance of the absorbent layer in the gusset.

Step 3: Leave to air dry on a rack indoors or on a washing line before wearing again.

Period-proof swimwear

Don’t let your period put you off making a splash! Our practical and discrete period swimwear means you can take to the pool or beach with confidence. Our bikini bottoms can be used in place of tampons or as extra peace of mind on your heavier days. Choose from classic black bikini bottoms or our high-waisted option, then mix and match them with your go-to bikini top.

FAQs

Is period underwear hygienic and free from harmful chemicals?

All materials used to design our period underwear have been developed to be safe and effective for our customers. Our product is rigorously tested for harmful chemicals under the REACH requirements. The only treatment used on our products is an anti-microbial finish applied to the top layer of the gusset to provide anti-odour protection. This treatment does not use nano technology or harmful toxins and is registered with the EPA (Environmental Protective Authority).

How many pairs do I need?

It's a good idea to have a few pairs of period pants so you can rotate them throughout your cycle. Depending on your flow and frequency of laundry, we recommend two-four pairs.

Can you wear period pants after having a baby?

Period pants can be a great option to wear after having a baby but it's important to wait until any postpartum bleeding has stopped. Reach for styles with a higher absorbency and a comfortable fit that won't irritate any postpartum healing.
